Putnam Felines, Inc. is an all volunteer, not-for profit, 501c3 organization working with stray and feral cats in Putnam County. We believe that the problem of cat over-population will not be solved by adoption alone. Shelters are full and private adoption groups are unable to keep up with the demand for their services. We are practicing Trap–Neuter- Return (TNR) because we believe it is the most effective and humane way of controlling feral and stray cat populations and protecting wildlife.

How We Do It
Stray and feral cats are humanely trapped; evaluated, vaccinated against rabies and sterilized by a veterinarian. Unadoptable cats are returned to their familiar habitat. Volunteers provide long-term care, including food, shelter and health monitoring. Ongoing surveillance ensures that all newcomers will be sterilized to allow the colony to diminish over time through attrition. Friendly cats are placed in foster homes to be adopted out to caring families.
